Position Summary

The Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences within the School of Public Health and Health Professions invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Clinical Assistant Professor position as Clinical Director for Strength and Conditioning. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to academic excellence, clinical innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration in a dynamic educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Lead the development and expansion of new clinical placement sites.
    • Design, develop, and teach new academic courses aligned with program goals and SUNY standards.
    • Expectations to carry a teaching load up to 12 credit hours per semester (equivalent of three 3-4 credit courses), depending on the amount of scholarship and service. Teaching assignments will include the fall, spring, and summer terms.
    • Prepare and manage documentation required for program accreditation and compliance.
    • Collaborate collegially with faculty and staff across the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, other academic units, and Athletics.
    • Engage with external stakeholders including clinical placement supervisors, preceptors, and accreditation staff to ensure high-quality experiential learning.

 


About the Department
The Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences is one of the academic units in the School of Public Health & Health Professions. There are well-established research programs and excellent facilities available within the Department and School. The Department offers a BS in Exercise Science, a BS in Nutritional Sciences, a BS/MS in Exercise Nutrition, an MS in Clinical Nutrition leading to the Registered Dietician credential, an MS degree in Athletic Training, MS degrees in Nutrition and Exercise Science and PhD degrees in Exercise Science and Nutrition. The Department is home to the Center for Research and Education in Special Environments (CRESE), which is a state-of-the-art facility for performing research at altitude, depth and extremes of temperature.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in athlete performance monitoring and rehabilitation.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs across various sports.



Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Sport Performance or a directly related discipline.
  • Experience working within professional sports organizations.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential, or eligibility to obtain certification within the first year of employment.

Salary Range
$85,000 - $95,000
