Dr. Carr has a special interest in anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa disorders and her research has focused on these disorders. Her master's research focused on nursing students regarding bulimia nervosa. The research is entitled Bulimic and Non-Bulimic Community College Students' Perception of Family Adaptability and Family Cohesion.
Dr. Carr's dissertation focused on elementary teachers and their intention to refer those students suspected of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa to counselors. The dissertation is entitled Middle School Teachers' Intentions to Refer Eating Disorder Students for Professional Counseling. Her future research will focus on eating disorders, medication calculation for nurses, and simulation application in behavioral health nursing and community health nursing.
