Dr. Castro Baker's research explores how the market economy contributes to social problems among women and the working class. In particular, her current research is focused on social reproduction and the multi-directional nature of mortgage trouble, illness, and unemployment within the context of a fraying social safety net. She also utilizes mixed-methods data-mining with public records to determine the prevalence of emerging economic problems.
