My primary research interests are in the area of intensive longitudinal data (ILD) design and analysis. With advances in data-collection technology (e.g. hand-held computers, automated portable devices), more behavioral and social scientists collect data intensively (e.g. through ecological momentary assessments and experience sampling). I am interested in questions related to design of studies employing ecological momentary assessments, including sampling frequency and questionnaire development. In addition, I am interested in developing, validating, and applying statistical models that allow for a full exploration of ILD, including mixed-effects models, mixture models, time-varying effects models, joint models, and varying-effects regression models. I am interested in applying these methods to studies of health-related behaviors, such as smoking, medication adherence, physical activity, etc
