Community success variables for persons with mental illness (collaborative work with Dr. Carol Haertlein and 6 sites throughout the United States), 2) prevalence, prevention and intervention of substance abuse problems for persons with serious mental illness and as a co-occurring condition, 3) educational methods to enhance the competencies of occupational therapy students who use interpersonal skills to enhance their clinical effectiveness, and 4) evidence-based review of substance abuse approaches as applied to an occupational perspective of substance use disorders.
