  • Dr. Wang’s research interest is focused on identifying neurobiological and neurophysiological mechanisms underlying sensorimotor issues in children with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Phelan McDermid Syndrome, and Fragile X) and adult individuals who are at the risk in developing neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., older adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, individuals with Fragile X mental retardation 1 gene premutation and etc.,). Dr. Wang’s research employs system neuroscience approaches including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), structural neuroimaging, kinetic, and kinematic movement analyses to identify biobehavioral markers for neurodevelopmental disabilities to facilitate early diagnosis, predict disease risk and monitor disease progression. Dr. Wang’s work has been supported by NIMH, NICHD and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. Dr. Wang has been published in multiple high impact and scientifically rigorous peer-reviewed journals specializing in developmental science (e.g., Journal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders), neuroscience (e.g., Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, Frontiers in Integrative Neuroscience, and Experimental Brain Research), neurobiology (e.g., Frontiers in Neuroscience Systems Biology and International Journal of Molecular Sciences) and neurophysiology (e.g., Journal of Neurophysiology).
