The School of Kinesiology doctoral program is ranked in the top 12 in the United States (National Academy of Kinesiology Review and Evaluation of Doctoral Programs, 2023). Since Spring 2013, the School of Kinesiology has been the sole occupant of a state-of-the-art” ~55,000 sq ft building. The school proudly boasts of 23 highly productive research laboratories in-house and one mobile mitochondria research laboratory. Research in the school spans from mitochondrial and muscle physiology, neurovascular biology to human neuroscience and biomechanics across the lifespan and clinical populations. The hired candidate will have their own dedicated lab space. The School of Kinesiology offers undergraduate and master’s degrees in Exercise Science; Exercise, Performance, and Health Optimization; Physical Education Teacher Education; and a doctoral program in Kinesiology.

The CCTS is a consortium of medical research institutions dedicated to accelerating the translation of research discoveries into improved patient care and population health. POSITION: Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor: The Auburn University Physical Therapy (AUPT) Program in the School of Kinesiology seeks to hire a highly collaborative, twelve-month full-time clinical faculty (non-tenure eligible) member at the Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor rank with expertise in Physical Therapy (Acute Care/Cardiopulmonary) to begin in May of 2025. This position is part of a group of faculty members who will be hired at Auburn University and will be the core faculty for the brand-new Physical Therapy Program. The program’s mission is to educate and train physical therapists emphasizing service among rural and underserved areas in Alabama and beyond. Interprofessional education is a strong foundation at AUPT with faculty and students training together as an interprofessional team across the curriculum. In addition, AUPT will host a faculty practice teaching clinic for students and faculty to practice and treat many of our communities’ most underserved and vulnerable populations. The PT program will be home to a high-tech anatomy simulation lab, two state-of-the-art clinical classrooms, and a dedicated active learning studio/classroom. Our curriculum is grounded in our mission and designed to produce competent and compassionate clinical physical therapists who are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all individuals, particularly those in underserved communities, through evidence-based practice, innovation, and advocacy.
 
The DPT program recently received Program with full-time Director status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). We will matriculate our charter cohort of 38 students in Summer of 2025.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy courses in support of the program.
  • Advise and mentor DPT students.
  • Direct student clinical case-studies and projects.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of curricular changes for the program and school.
  • Provide institutional service as assigned by the department head and engage in professional service within the discipline.
  • Participate in professional activities as needed to ensure the well-being of the program, school, and college.

The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.
