The University at Buffalo School of Nursing (SON) invites applicants for a clinical faculty position to lead the development and implementation of Faculty Practice Initiatives. The Director of Faculty Practice Initiatives will explore and develop opportunities for community-based clinical practice and partnerships that will meet the tripartite mission of the School of Nursing to include practice, education and research. The Director’s role is a community facing position that requires community engagement and development of relationships with healthcare providers and interprofessional teams to meet the healthcare needs of underserved populations in the Western New York State Region. The Director is expected to catalyze the development and implementation of a model that includes the social determinants of health. The Director will develop a sustainable model of community-based nursing care through creating a sustainable practice model with attention to meeting all aspects of a clinical practice model: measuring health care outcomes, identifying underserved communities, credentialing, HIPAA compliance, billing mechanisms, and etc., while complying with New York State Nursing Practice regulations, and any State or Federal requirements, as applicable. This is a part-time (12-month) appointment.

Responsibilities include:
• Lead and work with current nursing faculty and health care partners to identify community opportunities for practice in the Western New York State (NYS) region.
• Lead and develop relationships with current and new community agencies/providers to identify regional healthcare needs.
• Lead and develop a strategic plan that will support a sustainable nursing faculty practice plan leading to measurable outcomes and innovations in practice.
• Engage with other SUNY Buffalo schools to coordinate health promotion and healthcare delivery to underserved communities in the Western NYS Region.
• Lead, develop and implement contracts in partnership with the UB legal team to provide community care.
• Lead and develop relationships with managed care organizations and regional hospitals to address gaps in healthcare delivery in Western NYS region.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for credentialing faculty within the University and with MCOs and maintain credentialing.
• Engage with regional healthcare providers to develop an accountable care model of healthcare delivery.
• Lead and develop educational opportunities for undergraduate (BS) and graduate (DNP/PhD) nursing students to optimize entry level (BS/RN) and advanced practice (DNP) opportunities and promote research opportunities for PhD students.
• Lead and collaborate with the Associate Dean for Research and Assistant/Associate Deans to create opportunities for nursing research and PhD/DNP quality/safety/clinical research.
• Identify, write, and apply for funding opportunities to initiate, sustain and support practice efforts.
• Lead and mentor faculty in community engagement and faculty practice planning, development and implementation to meet evidence-based standards of care.
• Effectively communicate with community agencies, third-party payers, public and private partners, regulatory agencies/bodies, to positively improve care to impact health care policy, and quality of care at the local, regional, state and national level as appropriate.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with University and NY state and Federal regulations and requirements.
• The Director of Faculty Practice Initiatives will report to the Dean of the School of Nursing. This is a non-tenured (12-month) clinical position.
• Other duties as assigned by Dean.
