Peer Group Facilitator

Research: We will develop and support a rich array of outstanding health sciences research programs, centers, and resources. We will provide infrastructure and opportunities for collaboration among disciplines throughout and beyond our University to support outstanding research. We will foster programs in the areas of basic, translational, mechanistic, and population research.


Position Summary:

The University of North Carolina is seeking a faculty member (current or retired) who has strong skills and experience facilitating discussions around difficult conversations including racism in the academy, microaggressions, and stress. Experience in the biomedical research field is desirable. The person in this position would be involved as a co-facilitator in a research study funded by the National Institutes of Health designed to identify best mentoring practices for racially or ethnically underrepresented early-career biomedical researchers. This individual would facilitate peer group discussions using a semi-structured facilitator’s guide. All sessions are held via Zoom. Individuals from underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Employment will require approval by the university and a background check.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Advanced degree (Masters, PhD, MD or equivalent) experience in higher education and experience facilitating discussions around difficult topics.


Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Experience in Biomedical Research preferred. Must have access to reliable internet.
