The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health (COPH), University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock is seeking applications for open-rank tenure/tenure-track full-time faculty positions (12-month period).
The Department’s research and teaching interests include exposure to environmental stressors and environmental toxicology, climate change and its impacts on human health, nutrition, and regulatory science. The Department houses an Organ-on-Chip facility that allows faculty to conduct the cutting-edge biomedical and bioengineering research and is home to the Center for Dietary Supplements Research. Four other departments within the COPH and three affiliated centers provide ample opportunities for the development of fruitful collaborative efforts. UAMS also serves as a home for the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Health Professions, and Nursing as well as the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute and a number of other experimental and clinical institutes that altogether offer unlimited prospects to conduct interdisciplinary basic, translational, and clinical research.
Candidates must possess a PhD, MD, DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree in an environmental health-related discipline. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to contribute to the research and educational missions of the Department with their independent extramurally-funded research program, instruction to MPH and PhD students (lecturing and advising), and to the service missions of the College. Candidates with expertise in the areas of biomedical engineering, climate change, nutrition, and regulatory science will be given preferences; however, candidates with documented expertise in other areas of environmental health will be given consideration as well. Evidence of existing funding is desired.
