Position Summary

The Community Engagement/Participatory Research Evaluation Specialist will play a key role in implementing a comprehensive community feedback system aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of Erie County, NY residents. Under the guidance of researchers from the Department of Family Medicine, Primary Care Research Institute, you will ensure that community voices are central to shaping policies, programs, and the strategic use of resources to address key public health challenges.

In this dynamic role, you will collaborate with local stakeholders, community members, and researchers to assess and evaluate health services and programs. Your efforts will help identify gaps in care, promote transparency, and foster continuous improvement, ensuring that health initiatives are responsive to the needs of the community.
 
Key responsibilities include:
    • Assisting researchers with designing and managing a community feedback system to ensure services are responsive to community needs.
    • Assisting researchers in conducting rigorous data collection and evaluation to assess the effectiveness of health interventions and programs.
    • Engaging the community and stakeholders in participatory research to ensure that health initiatives are aligned with real needs and challenges.
    • Providing actionable insights to shape future public health policies, programs, and resource allocation based on research and community input.
    • Developing and presenting educational materials designed to increase science/health literacy within the community.
 
This role requires expertise in community-based participatory research (CBPR), strong evaluation skills, and a deep understanding of public health challenges. Working closely with University at Buffalo researchers, you will apply evidence-based approaches to create a lasting, positive impact on community health.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in an appropriate field such as Social Work, Sociology, Community Health, or a related field, and at least three years of specifically related experience. Education and experience requirements may be satisfied by a combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement, participatory research, program evaluation, or public health initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable or marginalized populations, particularly in the context of substance use and recovery.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters of PhD in Public Health, Social Work, Sociology, Community Health or a related field.
  • Experience with community-based participatory research (CBPR) and/or public health projects related to substance abuse.


Salary Range
$70,000 - $85,000
