An Associate Professor (Level D) academic is expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organisational unit or interdisciplinary area and play a significant role within their profession or discipline. Academics at this level may be appointed in recognition of distinction in their disciplinary area.

The position is expected to engage in high-quality education and research developments of the School. S/he will play a strong leadership role in educational innovation, curriculum design and review. S/he will make an outstanding contribution inside and outside of the University, and in engagement with the community and profession, especially in areas related to teaching and learning. The position shall actively engage in research in the field of specialization in line with the School’s research strategy, achieve a substantial active publications record (high-quality refereed journals) and research funding, and high engagement with the industry. S/he will supervise and mentor early career researchers and research students.

Reporting line: The position reports to a Professor (Level E).
Supervisory responsibilities: Supervisor for the School of Science academic staff according to the school’s reporting structure
Financial delegation and/or budget responsibilities: In accordance with the University delegations schedule, as applicable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Contribute to curriculum development, innovation, enhancement and quality assurance in the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum.
2. Develop and deliver innovative and excellent teaching, learning and assessment experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
3. Lead and conduct world class research, maintaining an active record of high quality publication, grants, and PhD student supervision.
4. Contribute to the development and implementation of a research strategy for the School of Science consistent with the research priorities of Monash University Malaysia and Monash University.
5. Contribute to the development of strong collaborations with other universities and with government, industry and/or civil society to drive research impact and educational excellence.
6. Contribute to the management of education, research and/or administration in the School, including coaching, mentorship, leadership and effective performance management.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Education/Qualifications
1. A doctoral qualification (PhD) or equivalent qualification
2. A strong record of successful and innovative curriculum development
3. An outstanding record of teaching which demonstrates a commitment to educational innovation
4. An excellent research record, demonstrated by world class publications, grants and PhD supervision
5. A strong record in research leadership including generating research income, leading major research projects and, where relevant, building research teams
6. Ability to promote the discipline internally within the university as well as externally, both nationally and internationally
7. Demonstrated skills and experience in collaboration and leadership
