Tarleton State University, School of Nursing, is seeking an Assistant Professor & Department Head, Department of Pre Licensure. This position is a 12-month, tenure track position located in Stephenville, TX.

Job Duties:
The successful candidate should demonstrate excellence in leadership, administration, and resource development; commitment to teaching excellence; experience with evaluation; and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with faculty, university administrators, and other constituent groups.

Earned doctorate in nursing from a regionally accredited institution (PhD or DNP). Teachers of record must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards which normally include a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justification. Eligibility for current RN License in the State of Texas.

The Department Head is responsible for providing leadership and support for faculty and staff; creating a positive environment for teaching, research, and service, and working collaboratively with faculty, Assistant Dean of the School of Nursing (SON), University administrators and other constituent groups to maintain the continued quality of curricula and in development of new programs. The Department Head is obligated to: recruit, hire, train and evaluate faculty and staff within the academic unit. Engage in strategic planning and institutional effectiveness in collaboration with Assistant Dean of Nursing for the School of Nursing. The Department Head is responsible for teaching 6 hours per long semester, and 3 hours per summer. The successful candidate will develop, implement and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology and other tools.

The candidate will participate as part of the departmental collective mosaic of talent to fulfill the University scholarship mission by engaging in professional development activities in the areas of teaching and practice.
