Position Title: Director of Physical Therapist Assistant Program

Job Description

As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Director of Physical Therapist Assistant Program to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by being responsible for the start of the Physical Therapist Assistant Associate Degree Program.
 
The successful candidate will be a visionary leader overseeing the development and accreditation for the PTA Program. The leader will be responsible for curriculum development, administration and hiring of faculty to support the student and program needs. They will be a key leader in the institution to initiate a new program, increase enrollment and collaborate with all health profession programs on campus.
 
This is a 12-month, full time, core faculty member holding the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor depending on experience. The appointment will provide administrative release time to carry out the duties of the program director.

Support the Mission
  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.

 

Engage in the Vision
  • Implement the PTA Associate Degree program that will meet or exceed the strategic plan, enrollment goals, and impact the community for the greater good.
  • Provide excellence in physical therapist assistant education to best serve Marian University students and the healthcare community.

Be a Transformational Leader
  • Develop a culture of excellence.
  • Recruit, train and retain talented faculty with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Lead a collaborative team to implement an evidenced based curriculum.
  • Collaborate with all health professions programs to create interprofessional education opportunities for faculty, staff and students.
  • Design, implement and revise an innovative curriculum that meets accreditation requirements and attracts students.
  • Develop, implement and revise policies that reflect current practice and the values of Marian University.
  • Manage the program budget and ensure all expenditures are made in a fiscally responsive manner.
· Establish program goals and metrics to monitor program success and growth.
  • Collect, analyze, prepare and submit regulatory and accreditation reporting requirements.
  • Ensure faculty are experientially and academically qualified to teach in accordance with accreditation standards.
  • Promote and evaluate faculty performance and development.
  • Create a learning and work environment that meets the accreditation requirements, welcomes faculty, staff and students and attracts students to the University.

Required Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. To be qualified for this position the candidate must:
  • Hold an active, unencumbered PT license or PTA license/certification in any United States jurisdiction and is in compliance with the practice act in the jurisdiction where the program is located.
  • Have a minimum of a master’s degree.
  • Have a minimum of five years (or equivalent), full-time,* post-licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years (or equivalent) of full-time clinical experience within any United States jurisdiction.
  • Have experience in classroom, lab, or clinical teaching experience.
  • Have experience in administration, management, and leadership. Experiences derived from the clinic are acceptable.
  • Have professional development or education in all of the following: educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation, and outcome assessment.
  • Have experience with CAPTE accreditation is preferred.
