Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Biological Science

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), College of Science (CoS) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore seeks outstanding candidates to apply for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor with a research focus in the molecular or cell biology of disease. We encourage applications of candidates that have worked on genes, proteins and metabolites involved in disease, regardless of whether their research has been conducted in humans, animals, bacteria, plants, fungi, or other organisms.
SBS is searching for individuals with a well-deļ¬ned research vision and an outstanding track record of publications in top journals. The successful candidate will establish and maintain an independent extramurally funded research program. The successful candidate is expected to show a strong commitment to departmental undergraduate and graduate mentoring and teaching.
SBS covers several areas of research encompassing genetic, structural, biochemical, and cellular investigator-led projects offering many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations not only within the school but also with other departments in the university. SBS/NTU offers cutting-edge infrastructures, such as state-of-the-art structural biology and biophysical facilities (Titan Krios Cryo-EM, Rigaku FRX X-ray generator, BLI, ITC), confocal microscopy, a complete set of proteomics facilities and a modern computer cluster. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to access other state-of-the-art facilities on campus and to establish fruitful collaborations with other Schools and Research Institutes on campus.
Requirements:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual ready to lead a dynamic research team and address fundamental biological problems. The successful candidate is expected to establish his/her research group at SBS/NTU, focusing on topics that may include but are not limited to, molecular biology of pathogenicity, bacterial and viral diseases, pathogen genomics, epigenetics, transcriptomics, proteomics (and other omics), emerging diseases, host-pathogen interaction, pathogen drug resistance, and drug-pathogen interactions. We also welcome researchers working on cancers and metabolic diseases studied in any model system. We are particularly interested in exceptional candidates who adopt an integrated, cross-disciplinary approach and are enthusiastic about capitalizing on the diverse and complementary expertise available within our faculty.
Competitive applicants for the Assistant Professor position should have a strong record of research productivity and a well-developed research plan.
In addition to developing internationally recognized research, teaching excellence is also expected of the successful candidate. The candidate is expected to teach both general and advanced undergraduate courses, as well as graduate courses in biology.
Qualifications:
The candidate should have a relevant Ph.D., preferably in Biology, with postdoctoral or other professional experiences in related research fields.
