The Institute of Public Health (IPH) at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), UAE University, is seeking to appoint a full-time faculty member to contribute to its teaching, research, and consultancy activities in Biostatistics. We are looking to appoint a suitable candidate with training, experience, and achievements in Biostatistics. The successful candidate will assist in teaching biostatistics to undergraduate medical students and graduate students at CMHS. The candidate should be expected to conduct advanced statistical research, contribute to the supervision of PhD students, and participate in curriculum development and academic program enhancement. The appointee is anticipated to initiate and be the principal investigator for research projects relevant to the health of communities in the UAE. There are good opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in the CMHS and other UAEU colleges, in addition to local and regional institutions. Particular importance is attached to developing strong links with educational establishments, health authorities, government agencies, and other institutions in the UAE and the wider region. International collaboration is encouraged. The successful candidate will also share administrative work in the IPH and CMHS, including serving on committees, coordinating the courses, invigilating examinations, and contributing to student assessments.
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Biostatistics or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in teaching biostatistics or related courses at the university level.
PhD degree in Biostatistics and relevant experience in advanced biostatistical methods, deep learning, machine learning, and longitudinal models. A strong record of research with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
A minimum of five years’ experience in teaching and research. Experience in statistical consultancy is an advantage. Experience in supervising research projects and/or advising PhD students. A good track record of research grants acquisition. Excellent publications in high-ranked peer-reviewed journals with a proportion published in peer-reviewed statistical journals. Excellent experience in statistical analysis, preferably using R, SPSS, and Stata. Good understanding and applications of machine learning and deep learning concepts. Additional training or experience in epidemiology with practical experience in Public Health or Community Medicine will be an advantage. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Demonstrate awareness of cultural, privacy, and confidentiality issues. Good interpersonal and team working skills and flexibility with working hours.
