Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) invites applications for a mid-to-senior level tenured/tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Applied Health Science. This search seeks applicants at the Associate or Full Professor rank who will contribute toward academic excellence in research in support of our mission of preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Building upon our department's growing strength in substance use and addictions research and the successes of Indiana University's Responding to the Addictions Crisis Grand Challenge (https://addictions.iu.edu/index.html), the SPH-B is especially interested in individuals with areas of focus on opioids, substance use, and addiction. We seek a dynamic and innovative leader with the ability and desire to establish collaborative initiatives with faculty, supporting the growth, impact, and reputation of the department and school as a hub for cutting-edge substance use research. This 10-month appointment would ideally start August 1, 2025. Basic Qualifications
Qualifications: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree or professional doctorate (e.g., Ph.D., DrPH, M.D.) from a field related to health from an accredited educational institution. Candidates must have teaching experience at the graduate or professional level. Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially within a diverse faculty are required. Leadership skills and vision for enhancing the academic components of an interdisciplinary department are essential. Candidates for associate and full professor positions must demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for a senior career level, including extramurally funded research as a corresponding principal investigator, current funding or strong potential to secure external funding, and experience leading sizeable research initiatives.

Additional Qualifications
Responsibilities: Tenure track faculty in the Department of Applied Health Science are expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of the department by developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio including pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding to conduct cutting-edge research in modern public health science both as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator; teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and/or graduate level as designated by the department chairperson; and actively providing service internally to the department, school and university and externally to the profession and/or the community. Although candidates with specific areas of focus in opioids and addictions research are particularly encouraged to apply, all research areas related to health will be considered, with preference given to research that is collaborative, synergistic with other SPH-B and Indiana University faculty, and that aligns with major funding priorities. This position is located on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington (IUB) in Bloomington, Indiana, and successful candidates are expected to work on the IUB campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, campus, and community. Indiana University bases its tenure and promotion recommendations upon performance in three areas including research, teaching, and service. All individuals hired through this initiative are expected to excel in research and provide strong performance in teaching and service.
