The Texas A&M University College of Nursing is accepting applications for a full time strategic hire tenure-track or tenured faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon qualifications. Candidates should have an active research portfolio and demonstrate the potential for attracting extramural funding that will contribute to the advancement of science and knowledge translation across the lifespan and health/wellness continuum. Areas of research interest include but are not limited to: cancer prevention and control, health disparities, child and adult maltreatment, adolescent and women’s health, and mental health, including substance misuse.

The Texas A&M College of Nursing provides a supportive environment for research and strives to expand our interdisciplinary collaboration with fellow Texas A&M University units including the College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, School of Public Health, College of Engineering and the College of Education and Human Development. The College of Nursing is home to the Texas A&M Health Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing, earned the number 11 spot in the U.S. News & World Report’s national rankings for best online MSN degree program and was recently re-designated as a National League for Nursing (NLN) Center of Excellence in Nursing Education in Creating Environments that Enhance Student Learning and Professional Development. Within the last three fiscal years, research funding has more than quadrupled and our clinical partnerships continue to expand, surpassing 350 clinical partner sites across the state of Texas with more than 40 percent of the locations providing care in medically underserved areas.

Successful applicants must have a research doctorate, a documented commitment to teaching and service and must hold a valid United States nursing license with eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas.

This full-time position – 9-month plus summer appointment – is expected to begin in the Spring 2021 semester or Summer/Fall 2021, depending upon the availability of the candidate. As a growing college of the Texas A&M University System, we have two campus locations – Bryan-College Station and Round Rock – and two advising/recruiting locations – the Rio Grande Valley (McAllen) and rural east Texas (Lufkin). The College offers three different tracks for students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and three Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree specialties including MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN-Nursing Education and MSN-Forensic Nursing. Future plans to offer a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and PhD program are currently in the development phase.

The vision of the college incorporates efforts to directly address health disparities and inequity with particular focus on vulnerable, underserved populations. This position will enhance the research, teaching and service portfolio by expanding upon strong programs providing care to rural communities, cancer care, interpersonal violence and telehealth-based primary care services.

As a research-intensive position at a Tier One research university, academic rank is commensurate with the candidate’s prior experience and record. The position is located on the main Texas A&M Health campus in Bryan-College Station, the academic and research anchor of the Brazos Valley’s Biocorridor. Consideration will be given to applicants with a strong or growing extramurally-funded research program, with preference for a teaching record that includes PhD and DNP graduate student advising. Candidates are expected to continue their program of research and seek external funding while teaching and mentoring both students and fellow faculty. The role will play a significant role in contributing to the growing research, scholarship and outreach of the college.

Required Education:
PhD degree in nursing or a PhD in a related field. At least one graduate degree must be in nursing. Post-doctoral education preferred.

Required Experience:
A clear record of significant and competitive extramurally-funded research and associated scholarly outcomes in cancer prevention and control, health disparities, child and adult maltreatment, adolescent and women’s health, and mental health, including substance misuse. Experience teaching at the graduate level is required. Must be qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor rank, and eligible for tenure consideration at Texas A&M University. Tenure determination requires an accomplished record of teaching, research and service.

Required Registrations, Certifications and Licenses:
Candidate must hold a valid United States nursing license and be eligible to obtain a Texas RN license.
