Position: Registered Nurse
Department: Student Health

Status: Full-Time

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

Skilled professional nursing care provided in the form of assessment, treatment, documentation and health-counseling demonstrating the highest quality in customer health care.
Must be highly skilled with the ability to function both independently as well as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team.
Treat minor medical emergencies and make accurate and appropriate referrals.
Participate in the development of criteria to ensure the effectiveness of the patient care provided.
Accurately perform health care diagnostic tests.
Administer medications and treatments, as per standing orders of the Attending Physician.
Maintain Registered Nurse Licensure and attend necessary Continuing Education programs to maintain Registered Nurse Licensure.
Protect patients, employees and others by adhering to all medical infectious disease control policies, procedures and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures and regulation.
Document patient care services by charting patient and departmental records.
Contributes to team effort by performing and accomplishing related duties as needed.
Successful candidate shall be willing to work nights and weekends.


Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Must be a Registered Nurse holding a current State of Alabama Board of Nursing License.
Complete a minimum of Two (2) years’ experience in a primary health care setting, preferably in University Care settings.
CPR, BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification (current) required.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification (current) preferred.

Commensurate with education, training and experience

Additional Position Information:

This position require weekend and after work hours’ job responsibilities.
