Opportunity

The University of Scranton’s Panuska College of Professional Studies is accepting applications for an open rank, tenure track faculty position in the Department of Physical Therapy. The ideal candidate is a team-oriented leader with strong communication skills and the ability to relate well with students. Experienced physical therapy faculty are encouraged to apply. This full time, 9-month position includes teaching, service, and scholarship responsibilities with primary teaching opportunities available in cardiovascular/pulmonary, anatomy, and scientific inquiry/research series content areas.

The department is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and boasts a 95.5% first-time pass rate for 2018.

Required Qualifications
•     An earned academic doctorate (e.g., PhD, EdD) in a field relevant to physical therapy
•     Must have a current US physical therapy license and be eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Pennsylvania
•     Extensive clinical experience and expertise in a specific area of practice (e.g., cardiovascular/pulmonary, orthopedics)
•     Teaching experience in a physical therapy program

Preferred Qualifications
•     Strong record of scholarship and publication
•     Cardiopulmonary and/or scientific inquiry/research teaching background
•     Specialty physical therapy certification

Key Responsibilities

Physical Therapy Department
The University of Scranton’s Physical Therapy curriculum is an intensive three-year (9-semester) program, including summer clinical experiences, which leads to a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. The Department of Physical Therapy is currently comprised of eight highly motivated core faculty members engaged in a variety of clinical, service, and scholarly activities with a common goal of providing a positive educational experience for our students. The Department is located in a new $47.5 million, state of the art academic building with interactive rehabilitation laboratories, flexible teaching spaces, tele-health and research facilities. In addition, we operate a student-run pro bono PT clinic to facilitate experiential learning and meet the needs of the uninsured and underserved residents of our local community.
