The Division of Epidemiology and Community Health in the University of Minnesota School of Public Health (http://www.sph.umn.edu) is recruiting a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor to join one of the oldest and largest MCH and Epidemiology research and training programs in the United States. This position will contribute to research, teaching and advising in our Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Masters in Public Health (MPH) program, which trains more than 80 MPH students annually. The Division hosts the Center for Leadership Education in Maternal and Child Public Health (http://www.epi.umn.edu/mch) which has led MCH workforce development and provided training opportunities to students and members of community-based organizations and public health agencies since 1954.

About the Position
Primary responsibilities include:
1) Teaching (in-person, online, and/or hybrid) graduate courses in maternal and child health; teaching load may vary depending on program needs and by the level of the candidate’s research funding;
2) Developing an innovative, impactful, and sustainable program of public health research in an area relevant to maternal and child health;
3) Advising and mentoring MPH and PhD students;
4) Committee service as needed (student admissions and retention, service on Division and School committees)
Appointment and Compensation: The position is a 12-month salaried appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
1) Doctoral training in public health or related field, preferably including training in maternal and child health:
a) An earned doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD or equivalent) in public health or related field (e.g., community health, epidemiology, social work, anthropology, public policy), or
b) An MD or equivalent, and an MPH, MS or equivalent public health masters’ degree
2) Evidence of research excellence in maternal and child health or related areas of public health, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals in the applicant’s field and research grant funding
3) Evidence of teaching excellence in public health or related field at the graduate or undergraduate level
We are interested in candidates who have expertise and experience in a variety of areas of MCH, including but not limited to the following: MCH epidemiology, health disparities, sexual and reproductive health, community engaged/based research, research and training grant-writing for NIH, CDC, HRSA and other grant mechanisms, policy and legislation, implementation science, and MCH program design, planning, implementation, and/or evaluation. Teaching and research on the impact of structural and social determinants of health, including racism, and their relationship to health inequities over the life course, is strongly desired. Public health practice experience specific to MCH including experience with MCH/Title V programs is valued, as is experience teaching using online learning platforms.
About the Division
The Division of Epidemiology and Community Health (https://www.sph.umn.edu/academics/divisions/epich/) is home to a multi-disciplinary faculty of nearly 50 and provides a rich and collaborative environment for the investigation of the etiology, distribution, and prevention of disease integrating both clinical/biological and social/behavioral perspectives and methods. The Division is one of four in the School of Public Health (also including Biostatistics, Health Policy and Management, and Environmental Health Sciences), and enjoys close working relations with a variety of community health programs and organizations locally and across the country, as well as governmental agencies at the local, state and national levels. The Division has five other active teaching programs with a combined enrollment of over 300 students, including MPH programs in Epidemiology, Public Health Nutrition, and Community Health Promotion, an MS in Clinical Research, and a PhD program in Epidemiology.
