Purpose: OBU is seeking applicants for a full-time 12-month core faculty appointment in their new hybrid Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. Faculty rank is commensurate with experience. This 2-year accelerated OTD program combines online and on-campus teaching, which allows faculty to perform work remotely with the requirement to come to the OBU campus in Shawnee, OK for on-campus activities several times per year. The start date for this position is Fall 2025/Spring 2026. The position will remain open until it is filled. Come join us and work with a purpose, where faith is the heart of education.
Essential Functions:
Teaching Responsibilities:
The faculty members will be responsible for the development of new courses to be delivered in a hybrid format, creating and conducting in-person lab immersions and experiential learning opportunities for students.
Service Responsibilities:
Participate in institutional and professional service opportunities in accordance with accreditation requirements and institutional policies and procedures. Participate in community and church service opportunities.
Scholarship Responsibilities:
Conduct and disseminate research/scholarship activities in accordance with accreditation requirements and institutional policies and procedures. This can include Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Core Faculty position must meet or exceed the following qualifications:
Education
Required:
- Earned doctoral degree from an accredited program (OTD, EdD, PhD, ScD, etc.)
- Occupational therapy degree (MOT, MSOT, etc.) from an ACOTE accredited program
Licensure
Required:
- Current, valid non-restricted occupational therapy license
- Oklahoma (OK) state occupational therapy license or eligibility for licensure in OK
Experience
Required:
- A minimum of 5 years clinical experience as an occupational therapy practitioner
- Clinical expertise in adult physical conditions/disabilities and/or adult outpatient therapy settings
- A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in occupational therapy or similar program in higher education
Preferred:
- Teaching experience in a hybrid format
- Demonstrate use of innovative teaching strategies
- Advanced Certifications in field of practice
- Excellent communication skills and strong computer skills to meet the needs of our online instructional format
- Team-oriented and willing to collaborate and share instructional methods and activates to enhance quality of online/hybrid education
- Appreciation of evidence-based teaching, integration of technology within the classroom and building a student-centered community within the online classroom
Equipment:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite tools (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, etc.) as well as Zoom and other online meeting platforms
- Experience with online learning management software (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
- Possess strength, range of motion, and fine and gross motor coordination to demonstrate mobility, self-care, assessments, and interventions.
- Perform tasks requiring standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance if needed
- Tolerate 3–4 hours of continuous activity with minimal breaks and full 8–10 hour days with rest breaks for hands-on lab immersions.
Special Requirements:
- Must be a member of a local evangelical* Christian church.
*Evangelical is a broad term referring to segment within Christianity which maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
